God's masculine image

What is God like?

And put on the new nature (the regenerate self) created in God’s image, [Godlike] in true righteousness and holiness. – Eph. 4:24So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image. – 2 Cor. 3:18

In order to understand who we are becoming, we need to think about and explore who God is – how He revealed Himself by His actions in the bible.

Question: what do you see in His actions in the bible?

NOTE: The goal is to bring out the best in us. Jot down in the comments your POSITIVE observations.

  1. I think God is strong, deliberate, a good communicator. He is also firm and doesn’t waver and get flustered or constantly change His mind.

Having said that, He does change His mind when posed with a good argument – like with Abraham.

What else guys? Let’s put our 2c in and get a conversation going.

  2. I see God as a redeemer. I see him as one who loves to come through and save his people, even if it means suffering on his own part. This is part of his nature that I believe he makes strong in us as men as well. We’re given the strength and courage to face anything for our bride and our children because he’s set us up for it by leaving us a pattern from which to follow.

Mark, your passage in II Cor. 3:18 really paints that picture well as we “reflect the glory of our God.”

  3. I think God is honest, and I mean honesty in its truest form; unwavering and pure light and all that is righteous. He is the true form of what a man is supposed to be like. He is passionate, empathic, and determined; so determined to see His beautiful children become who they really are: the mini versions of pure love and sacrifice. God has a way of showing us that even though we are men we really aren’t; he sets the standard by which we should live and act.
